Legal Notice - Ordinance 2015-001 Restricting Through Truck Traffic on County Roads

On Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 10:00 A.M., in a regular meeting at the Socorro County Annex, 198 Neel Socorro, NM 87801, the Board of County Commissioners of Socorro County will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of discussing the adoption of Socorro County Ordinance 2015-01 Restricting Through Truck Traffic on Socorro County Roads.

The purpose of the Ordinance is to mitigate damage to rural county roads, reduce liability and protect the County’s inhabitants by restricting through truck traffic, for trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 5 tons or more, to a pre-determined number of trips on Socorro County roads. The Ordinance provides for certain exemptions as well as a permitting process for exceeding the trip limitation. The Board of County Commissioners may vote to adopt the Ordinance at the meeting following the public hearing.

Copies of the proposed Ordinance are available for the public to view free of charge online below or at the County Clerk’s Office or the County Manager's Office, 201 Park Street, Socorro, NM. Copies of the proposed Ordinance may be purchased by the public from either office for $1.75. Written questions or comments to be considered at the public hearing will be accepted until 5:00 P.M. on Monday, February 23, 2015, at the Socorro County Manger’s Office.
