Magdalena, NM – October 27, 2014. The Cibola National Forest, Magdalena Ranger District will be offering a public fuel wood sales area and a vigas, latillas and saw logs sales area. All permits are available at the Magdalena Ranger District office.
The Baney fuel wood sales area is located along FR (Forest Road) 476 near Baney Park Meadows, approximately 25 miles southwest of Magdalena, NM. Ponderosa pine and Douglas fir logs are piled into decks for easy removal. For commercial permits, the price is $5 per/cord with a $100 minimum and $300 maximum per permit. Permits are good for up to 90 days. Personal use permits are also available for this area at $10 per cord. The Magdalena Ranger District allows an 8 cord maximum, per household, for personal use firewood seasonally. Permits will be good for up to 60 days. The sales area will be open to the public until February 28, 2015. Access to some of the log decks could be difficult due to winter road conditions. Wood cutters are encouraged to visit the sale site before purchasing a permit.
The saw logs, vigas and latillas sales area, which is located in Durfee Canyon, will be open to the public until February 28, 2015. The public is encouraged to visit the sales site before purchasing a permit. The minimum purchase is $20. Permits require a 15 day removal period upon issuance.
