Socorro NM – Socorro County, the City of Socorro, the Village of Magdalena, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, and the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District are pleased to announce that the Update to Socorro County Multi-Jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan is complete and ready for public review and comment.
The five agencies have set about the task of identifying the hazards that can affect our community, then identifying and implementing actions to lessen or eliminate their impacts. Natural hazards include events such as flash floods, severe storms, drought, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions threaten our community. The Mitigation Plan has been in effect since 2011and the update can be reviewed online at: http://www.socorrocounty.net/departments/em/hazmit.
Your feedback and comments are a crucial aspect in assuring this Plan is truly a product of the community it seeks to protect. Please attend a public meeting or respond with an email to the plan update contractor at email@example.com.
The meetings are scheduled at 11:30 AM, and 6:30 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Socorro County Annex Building, 198 Neel Avenue, Socorro, New Mexico.
