Public Hearing-April 12th-Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance

On Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 10:00 A.M., in a regular meeting at the Socorro County Annex Building, 198 Neel, Socorro, NM, the Board of County Commissioners of Socorro County will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of adopting a Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, Number 2016-02. The Board of Commissioners may vote on the Ordinance during the meeting directly following the public hearing.  The purpose of the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance is to minimize public and private losses due to flood conditions in specific areas.  The Ordinance will provide restrictions on uses of land that are dangerous in time of flood; require that land uses vulnerable to flood are protected against flood damage at the time of construction; control the alteration of natural waterways; control development which may increase flood damage and prevent or restrict the creation of flood barriers which un-naturally divert flood waters or increase flood hazards to other lands. If adopted this ordinance will replace Ordinance 2008-001
