The Veguita Fire District runs from the Rio Grande toward the east, and is bounded on the north by the county line, and on the south by US Route 60.

There are two stations, both on NM Route 304:

• Veguita station in the north
• Las Nutrias station near La Promesa School and the Senior Center.
