Instructions: STAY SAFE CLEANING UP AFTER A FLOOD

• Immediately document everything: Photos/video before cleanup, high-water marks, damaged rooms, vehicles, personal property, wells/septic, access roads, etc.

• Save receipts: Emergency lodging, cleanup, pumps, generators, repairs, materials, transportation and other disaster-related expenses.

• Contact your insurance company and retain the claim number, settlement/denial and policy information.

• FEMA may potentially assist with eligible uninsured or underinsured disaster-related needs, but FEMA assistance does not duplicate insurance.

• Do not wait to make the home safe just because FEMA has not inspected it yet- photograph damage first and retain receipts.

• Apply to FEMA if IA is authorized for the county
